Some Photos of Our Recent Adventures

Here are a few pics from our recent comings and goings...

The weather has been beautiful and we have been going on play dates at the park.

I finally got a hair cut.  Won't let it go that long between cuts again.  Eek!

Our first plane ride--momma did it solo and it was a success!

Grandmas sends the silliest and cutest outfits in the mail!

New spring shoes.  Don't pay attention to the lack of polished toes.

Spring fever means bright colors.

Spent a rainy day taping up art work trying to decide what to frame and hang.

We are learning to color.  It might be this mom's dream come true.

We are lucky to have a really nice public library.
Three whole walls of board books and a felt board.  Baby heaven.

I have been waiting 10 years for red jeans to come back in style and probably
15 years for tight roll jean to come back and all in one season!

Speaking of things looked forward to...I bought this jean skirt with little
heart buttons the day we found out we were having a girl.  Dream come true.
How has you week gone?

It's cold and rainy here today.  We are snuggling with our Elmo, drinking hot tea, reading books, staying indoors.  I guess with an entire winter that felt like spring it's time for a cold rainy day.  I am trying to do a little better at carrying my camera on our adventures (thanks to a new case that's making that a little easier and less bulky to do) and to snap a few pics everyday so I can get better at this photography thing. You know, a little practice makes perfect.

Pictures from top to bottom:
1) Our bradford pear trees in the back yard have bloomed early this spring and are creating their own sort of magic back there.
2) Practicing with my 50mm and doing a little self portrait thing in the new mirror I hung in the guest bath earlier this week.
3) Cup of peppermint tea to sip and my favorite candle from Anthropologie burning to warm up this cool day.

Hope you are having a lovely Wednesday.

Tuesday Crafties {Baby Crafties}

Over Christmas I got a few gift cards to Amazon and after pooling them together I was able to snag a new toy camera.  You can see how excited I am here.

Anywho, I ordered it with plans already in mind for how I might use it to make cute little crafts.  So since it arrived last week me and the little miss have been busy trying it out and making our first little projects.

First up we finished our Christmas thank yous.  Since we receive several thoughtful gifts each year via mail I thought snapping a pic of little miss with her beloved new item to incorporate into the thank you would be super cute. Here's the thank yous:

And since this is the little miss's first Valentines and since she can't really make Valentines without some major momma assistance, I thought I would use the camera to help her make a few Valentines for her loves.

Not too bad for my first two attempts with the camera.  Hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day!

I got a little belated package in the mail today from Santa with a new toy.  I cannot wait to get the hang of this little guy and start in on a whole list of fun little projects.

Happy Friday and Some Internet Love

This week has been seriously exhausting.  The mister has been out of town again for work add to that little miss is going through a growth spurt, teething and constantly on the go crawling, climbing, crumbling crackers, smooshing bananas and generally being a busy little adventurer and you get one tired momma.

I have a few new lenses I am looking at for my camera, plus a few toy cameras so my lens/camera lust has motivated me to try and master the manual setting on my Canon.  Luckily I have a subject that is willing to work for a few crackers and a piece of banana.

Here are a few of my favorites:

In addition to this little love, here are a few things from around the internet that have caught my eye:

1) I already make my own vinaigrettes but I think I will try making my own honey mustard via this recipe over the weekend.

2) I have been trolling Craig's List for a little piece of furniture for our guest room just like this one.

3) Our medicine cabinets are pretty beat up and in need of some care.  Thinking about doing something like this.

Monday I have plans to share a little tutorial.  Hope you have a great (and restful) weekend!

New Baby, But Not What You Think

For about a year now I have had a total fantasy to own my very own DSLR camera.  I want better pictures and I want something that can capture live action better than a point and click, which doesn't cut it for wiggly or moving things.   When we found out that we were expecting a baby my desire for a better camera just sky rocketted.  This process took a while mainly because I take forever to make major purchases and rarely ever spend this kind of money on anything.  Luckily, along with my slowness to pull the trigger on big purchases God gave me the insane capacity to set savaings goals and make them happen.

So last Saturday T and I went to Roberts Camera the local camera store here in Indianapolis and Carmel.  I had done tons of research but I still wanted to go and hold the camera and look at it and talk to someone before I pulled the trigger.  I also wanted T's input on it.  And I have to say, the people at Roberts were amazing!  I cannot say enough about how positive the experience was at Roberts.  They were great about listening to my needs and budget and making suggestions about what equipment was best, what I would need first, what could wait.  Plus they offer free classes to beginners if you purchase your equiptment there.  Also thier prices were better than the big box stores.  Can you tell it was positive the way I am going on about it?

So here she is--The Canon Rebel T2i.  We decided to go with the T2i because of the extra megapixels and because you can run an external mic when recording video.  Did I mention it records video?  Oooh and I got a tripod and a remote so I have all these fabulous plans to shoot our family portraits!  I can't wait to capture our little baby and all our new family adventures.
